Another successful Quiz night along the theme of 'Back to School' was held before half term, with Parent and Teacher teams battling their knowledge on school topics across the curriculum. Rounds included 'Celebrties who were once Teachers', 'Spot the Periodic Table' and a timed Geography round in the form of World Map jigsaws (the jigsaws then being donated to school).
A fun night was had - thank you to all the Parents and Teachers that supported the event, The Catering team for the 'School dinners' themed food and to the WPSA team who worked so hard to make the event a success and keep the bar stocked!
The quiz is always a very popular event in the WPSA calendar and, along with our other events, helps us raise funds towards school projects, such as those suggested to WPSA by the school council and staff, who twice a year present thier ideas and 'bid' for WPSA finanncial support.
This fundraising enables WPSA to give back to the school on and ad-hoc basis, facilitating events, projects and requests that may lie outside the normal school budget. The last round of bids just before Christmas included ideas from lunchtime Supervisors, Departmental Heads and the children who make up the School Council, and funding was given for the following items:
Skipping ropes for the playgroung, Lego boxes and mats, microscopes for the science department and goal posts for luchtime football.....and many more.
As a new School Council shortly takes office, WPSA looks forward to supporting and funding more of their ideas and innitiatives but this is only ever possible thanks to the support shown to our events by Parents and Teachers, Thank you.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning was the round off to September's events and it is the biggest coffee morning on the WPSA calendar. Every year we are proud to host one of their 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning' events and we want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported the event by buying raffle tickets, cakes and coffee!
We would also like to say a massive thank you to all the people who provided the many prizes for the raffle. Individuals and local businesses supported our coffee morning generously, including: WASPS Rugby, CentreSoft, Warwick Tennis Club, Pindalicious Cakes, Instant Beauty, Nuffield Gym, Kenilworth Round Table, Blaze Hair, Pure Hair, Cote Brasserie, Hiplock, Hatton Country World, Spa Centre Theatre and School Blazer, to name just a few.
All the lucky winners were contacted by school on the day of the draw - congratulations to you all!
The WPSA uniform sale was also well attended and they raised a fantastic £226 and again this year will be donating 50% of what the shop retains once parents have been paid.
Last year we raised an astounding £2500 for Macmillan. This year pre-sales of raffle tickets through book bags and from WPSA members before and after school raised nearly £1000 and once all the money from Friday has been counted, we hope to match, if not better, last year's total.
The WPSA AGM was held on Thursday 15 September with our new committee members and class representatives being appointed. Please feel free to contact WPSA via these parents.
