Warwick Prep is split into two parts - the Pre-Prep and the Prep Departments. The Pre-Prep is for girls and boys aged between 3 and 7. The Prep is for girls aged between 7 and 11.
The usual joining points are into Nursery at 3+ (about 60 new children), into Reception at 4+ (about 20 new children) and into Year 3 (about 10 new girls). There are sometimes spaces available in other year groups. It is best to contact the Admissions Department to get the latest on availability.
We have three Nursery classes and four Reception classes. Classes are limited to a strict maximum of 20 children and are broadly balanced between boys and girls. Each Reception, Year One and Year Two class has a full-time form teacher and Nursery Nurse/Teaching Assistant. Over the next two years the school is expanding to enable all classes in the Pre-Prep to be limited to this maximum of 20 children. However, despite this expansion, demand for places is expected to remain high, if not higher, with smaller classes being provided. Early registration is therefore advised.
In the Prep Departments, there are two classes in each year group, with Teaching Assistants on hand to support form teachers in Years 3 and 4. Class sizes are generally over 20, but setting in Maths and English from Year 4 means that in these key areas the girls are taught in smaller groups of around 16. Specialist teaching in the Prep Department (see below) is invariably taught to half-classes of between 10 and 12 pupils.
