French
Children are taught French from the Lower Two year group onwards, following a specifically designed course with a specialist teacher. This is based on an oral approach to learning through the use of pictures, objects, games, sketches and the creation of situations which help children to gain a natural understanding of the language and the confidence to speak French unselfconsciously. In the Middle and Upper School the course continues but with the addition of workbooks.
The Upper One girls have the opportunity to spend a week in a chateau in Normandy where they are able to work intensively in a variety of real French situations. An optional French breakfast is available for girls in Upper Two.
