Lower School

Kindergarten (4+), Lower One (5+), Lower Two (6+)

In the Lower School strong emphasis is placed on acquiring new skills in an enjoyable and absorbing way. Literacy and numeracy are given high priority but a broad and balanced curriculum is vital for the development of the whole child and physical, creative and artistic work of all kinds is encouraged.

There are three mixed ability forms of  in each year group. In the Kindergarten and Lower One years each class is taught by a Form Teacher supported by a Nursery Nurse or Classroom Assistant.

In Lower Two children are encouraged to begin working with more independence. A flexible teaching group is introduced for academic and practical subjects. This allows careful and thorough preparation for the next stage of education without undue pressure.

Form Teachers are supported by a team of extra teachers for English and Mathematics. In addition, specialist teachers assist in Art and Design, Design and Technology, French, Information and Communication Technology, Music, Physical Education and Science.
