Mathematics
In order to lay the foundations for a genuine interest in Mathematics, we emphasise learning through practical experience, particularly in the early years. Using an imaginative range of materials and activities, staff stimulate children to discover mathematical principles for themselves.
The curriculum followed ensures that there is continuity and progression throughout the school. This is supported by additional resources and the children’s understanding and use of mental calculations are encouraged. From the Lower Two onwards regular testing is used to monitor the children’s understanding, learning and progress making it possible to pinpoint any areas of weakness at an early stage.
