Science

To develop the natural curiosity that children have about themselves and the world, a carefully structured science programme is followed throughout the school. This ensures progression in the key areas of skills, knowledge and the understanding of scientific concepts by means of exploration and discovery, and aims to develop an interest in and respect for our natural environment. The children are encouraged to work independently and carry out investigations. Guidance and assistance are given throughout the school but from Middle One upwards the girls are taught by specialist staff. The well equipped facilities include two purpose-built laboratories, one with an adjoining greenhouse. Computers, video disc, visits to places of scientific interest and a residential week spent in a field study centre are all used to broaden the girls’ experience and develop interest.
