Happy 100th Birthday Sir David Attenborough!
We have celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough with a wonderful day of learning inspired by the natural world.
The children were invited to bring in a favourite toy animal and research it, creating fact files exploring habitats, diets, adaptations and amazing facts. The school was filled with a variety of animals, from lions, monkeys and crocodiles to lobsters, squirrels and swans.
The celebration encouraged the pupils to embrace the same spirit of exploration and wonder that Sir David Attenborough has inspired in generations around the world.
We were pleased to welcome Mr Earl to assembly, a lepidopterist who studies butterflies and moths, who spoke to the children about the fascinating world of these insects.

As part of the celebrations, the Reception children discovered more about the life and work of Sir David Attenborough before embarking on their own expeditions to collect natural resources to create bug hotels. Gathering twigs, fir cones and bark, the children created habitats for insects before setting off on a bug hunt.
The children were excited to find lots of bugs, including woodlice, millipedes, centipedes, ants and ladybirds hiding under logs and stones.
