Leamington Competitive Music Festival - Cello Section

Alice, in Year 6, attended the cello section of the Leamington Competitive Music Festival. Read all about her experience below.

This year, the cello section of the Leamington Competitive Music Festival was absolutely amazing! Freya, in Year 3, Elsie, in Year 6, and I entered and we did brilliantly, coming away with medals and trophies.

The Leamington Competitive Music Festival is a chance for young musicians to develop their performance skills, and to enjoy sharing what they have been practising. It is also a great opportunity for people to perform pieces in preparation for exams.

This was the fourth time that I have entered, and I was awarded first place in both the 11 years and under, The Jenn Grove Memorial Trophy to the most promising player and The Annette Bell Trophy for any piece, Grade 5 or 6. Freya was awarded first place in the Grade 1/2 class and the Soroptomist Cello Cup in her class and Elsie was awarded third place in the Grade 5/6 class.

We would like to thank our teacher, Mrs Wimpenny for all her great lessons and coming to support us on Saturday afternoon.
