Wondrous Water Science Week

A special science assembly launched Science Week at Warwick Prep with the theme, Wondrous Water.

Miss Wilby and Mrs Charl explained the properties of water (thank you to Mrs Taylor for being a brave assistant!) before challenging the children to fill the hall with bubbles!

The Nursery children took part in some icy experiments to understand the change in state of water when its freezes. They investigated how to melt ice too.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils enjoyed a visit from ZooLab ranger, Domanique along with some spectacular animals including a tarantula, tree frog, Great African land snail and a snake!

Prep girls were wowed by a spectacular science show from Peter, at Wonderstruck. Rocket launching, sledgehammers, explosions and seriously loud bangs made this science show one the children won't forget. Ever!

Year 3 and Year 4 girls then had a rocket making workshop following by a rocket launching competition to see which rocket flew the furthest.

Year 5 and Year 6 girls created motorised cars which they raced on a track to try and achieve the fastest speed.

At the end of the week, we welcomed Marie-Claire Barker and her guide dog, Dee Dee. Marie-Claire talked about how Dee Dee helps her and how she uses some fantastic apps daily. Marie-Claire explained how science has been invaluable in her everyday life and how wonderful it must be to invent something useful to help others.

A special thank you to the WPSA Uniform Shop for funding our Science Week. By parents supporting the Uniform Shop, WPSA are able to have such a positive impact on the children in our school.
