Blast Off!

Reception had a busy start to the term learning about ‘Space’!  The children enjoyed sharing stories about space; learning about real-life astronauts including Tim Peake and Neil Armstrong and creating their own rockets and space stations either at school or at home. Reception listened to music from ‘The Planet Suite’ by Gustav Holst and drew or painted their own planets.

In the second half of term, the children began their ‘Superheroes’ topic, learning about both fictional and real-life superheroes.  They all enjoyed reading ‘Supertato’ stories, and creating their own super veggies!  The children have been learning about how a variety of people help us in everyday life, including doctors, nurses, emergency services and vets.

Reception were also delighted to resume Forest School sessions on our return to school, exploring how the garden is changing in Spring and making special seed bombs for Mother’s Day.

On Friday 12 March, we celebrated World Book Day, dressing up as a variety of characters from their favourite stories and enjoying a bear hunt during PE.
